Norway is the center of kite-sports as land and wind are perfect there. In summer and in winter kiters from all over the world gather there to do their favourite sport. This year Vadsø in Norway is the place to be for all present and potential future snowkite champions. Many well known riders from all over the world – form France, Russia, Austria, Switzerland, Canada, USA, Sweden, the Czech Republic and of course from Norway - will be in Vadsø for the Snowkite World Championship. The reigning champion in freestyle ski men Bjørn Kaupang from Norway won’t miss that event and will try to defend his title like Austrian female World Champion 2005 Nicole Prenner.

The competition starts Wednesday, April 5 with an opening ceremony on Vadsø marketplace and will go through to Saturday, April 8, 2006. The kiters will be competing in freestyle and race discipline on snowboards and skies. In freestyle the kiters with the best jumps will get the title, in the race discipline speed is what counts and the fastest kiters on skies and on snowboard will receive the medals.
